Course Overview
The Fall Protection in Construction course provided by the American Institute of Safety Professionals offers a detailed analysis of the legal standards laid out by OSHA Standards §1926.500–503. This course entails identification, evaluation, and control of fall risks in the construction industry workplaces. This course also explains the purpose and use of fall protection including the systems fall protection is needed and also indicates the exceptions as scaffolds, cranes, derricks, steel erection, tunneling operations, tank and tower erection, electric transmission and distribution work, and stairways and ladders which are covered in other parts. It also explains comprehensive fall protection systems which includes guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, safety nets and controlled access zones including the requirements for the installation, use and maintenance of each system. It also explains fall protection components which include anchorages, body harnesses, lanyards and deceleration devices, and important concepts as free fall distance, leading edges, holes, openings and other dangerous material. It explains the situations where the fall protection fails and other control systems needs to be used to protect the workers. It also addresses employee training requirements outlined in OSHA regulations §1926.503 to ensure workers are competent in recognizing fall hazards, choosing proper protective systems, and responding to other possible fall situations. Participants gain valuable real-world experience with fall protection program design, implementation, and maintenance through case studies, injury reduction, and proactive safety culture fostering via injury prevention training. The course prepares participants to effectively manage fall-related risks and maintain safety in construction-related environments by enhancing their ability to comply with safety regulations.

Mode of Delivery

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Program Duration

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

Examination

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
