Course Overview
The Certified Safety Engineer (CSE) course from the American Institute of Safety Professionals (AMIOSP) represents a higher tier qualification for those who design, implement, and manage occupational safety systems from an engineering perspective. Based on OSHA 29 CFR Part 1926.32 – Definitions, it will anchor understanding of the regulatory vocabulary and key concepts that shape construction and industrial safety and engineering. For comprehensive understanding of the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act (Construction Safety Act) and the role of ANSI standards, the definitions of “approved,” “authorized,” and “competent” persons must be understood in the context of engineering safe systems and processes which the course explains in depth. This course aims for practical understanding of the principles of safety engineering, especially the systematic design and risk-oriented methods for identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards in the workplace. Safety must be designed in for every phase of the project from concept and design to execution and maintenance for optimal regulatory compliance and operational equity. To mitigate possible incidents in high-risk settings, the CSE course curriculum continues with advanced study in hazard analysis and failure mode, including the discipline of human factors engineering. After finishing this course, participants will be able to run their own multidisciplinary safety programs, perform technical safety audits, and work on the continuous improvement of safety performance on both an organizational and systemic level.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the Certified Safety Engineer (CSE) program, participants will be able to:
  • Understand OSHA, ISO, and international safety standards to design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety engineering solutions across industries.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards including chemical, mechanical, electrical, fire, ergonomic, and environmental risks using engineering principles.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems, engineering controls, and standard operating procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and hazard prevention.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, hazard analyses, and incident investigations, documenting findings and recommending corrective and preventive measures.
  • Apply risk assessment, engineering controls, and emergency preparedness strategies to reduce accidents and improve overall operational safety.
  • Lead, mentor, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to foster a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in safety engineering practices.
  • Communicate effectively with management, employees, engineers, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and operational safety excellence.
  • Integrate learned safety engineering concepts into real-world scenarios to enhance decision-making, reliability, and workplace safety performance.
  • Participate in practical exercises, case studies, and scenario-based training to reinforce professional skills, technical knowledge, and competency in safety engineering.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and leadership in occupational safety engineering practices across diverse industrial environments.
Mode of Delivery
Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.
