Course Overview
The Train The Trainer – Occupational Safety and Health course provided by The American Institute of Safety Professionals is designed to train safety professionals on how to deliver OSHA-compliant training programs relevant to different industries and workplaces. The training incorporates elements of OSHA’s standards including 29 CFR 1910 for general industry, 29 CFR 1926 for construction, and relevant guidelines by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to ensure that trainers understand the legal aspects of OSHA standards, hazard identification, and techniques of risk assessment and risk control. Trainees learn theories of adult education and methods of instructional communication to integrate training of employees with adult learning principles and to facilitate the learning process for employees. The course places a strong emphasis on practical activities by training participants on the development of training guides, delivery of training using various methods, assessment of learning, and the application of safety management measures that are evidence-based. The course also facilitates trainers to engage in teaching strategies on identification of workplace hazards, emergency readiness, behavioral safety, and safety culture that positively influences safety behavior of all employees in the organization. When participants engage with scenarios, case studies, and active learning, they build the confidence needed for impactful safety training. These trainings go beyond compliance to boost safety performance, minimize workplace incidents, and improve employee health. Program participants learn to become effective occupational safety trainers. They learn to develop, implement, and assess safety and health programs of the required breadth and depth which meet the national standards and global best practices.
