Course Overview
The Managing Safely for Managers course offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals to teach effective implementation of workplace safety programs primarily ones concerning OSHA §1910.132 General Requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Participants learn about an employer’s responsibilities regarding the provision of PPE that protects employees from process related, environmental, chemical, radiological, and mechanical irritant hazards that can injure the employees, including the maintenance, care, design, fit sanitation of PPE and the inclusion of employee owned equipment. The training teaches managers to assess hazards in the workplace, choose appropriate PPE, communicate and document the decisions made in the hazard assessments. The course teaches the importance of control measures that prevent an employee from using defective PPE and training employees on proper use, care, limitations, disposal of PPE and retraining with workplace condition changes. Training includes employer responsibilities that require PPE provision and replacement, and clarifying responsibilities that apply to certain non-specialty items. Participants learn to create the conditions that foster a safe workplace and improve employee health and safety. The course also aims to improve compliance with safety regulations, control risks, and create a positive safety culture.

Mode of Delivery
Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.

Entry Requirements
This program follows global workplace health and safety standards, and is taught by industry experts. Successful students receive an American Institute of Safety Professionals accredited certificate which is recognized by several employers and regulatory bodies. Graduates receive a master certificate, course completion certificate (if applicable), an official transcript, a wallet card, and access to a professional safety network which promotes ongoing learning and career growth.
Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided. The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

This training program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
