Course Overview
The “Leading Safely for Directors” course from the American Institute of Safety Professionals is designed for C-suite executives and direct board-level members of organizations to gain skills in the oversight of workplace safety and OSHA (29 CFR 1910, 1926) compliance and regulatory oversight. The course focuses more on the influence of leadership in the establishment of safety culture at the workplace for the Directors to understand that policy-driven value and allocation of organizational resources will have the greatest effect on risk minimization and occupational incident prevention. Directors learn to appraise organizational safety policies and programs, compliance with OSHA General and Specific safety standards, in particular §1926.20 (General Safety and Health Provisions), and the oversight the organization safety management systems. The safety management systems course describes the oversight facility executives require to ensure that competent staff conduct safety inspections, employees are trained, provided PPE, and systematic hazard identification, reporting and control processes are established and maintained. Integrated safety operational systems accountability and the control of safety activities alignment with corporate governance are described. Other described safety management systems components includes assessing and fulfilling the organization reporting obligations, emergency response and organizational goal alignment with the organization legal and ethical safety standards.This course helps directors lead by example, including being informed when making policies or investments about occupational health and safety, and creating a safety culture that helps reduce liability, improves employee health, and meets OSHA requirements. Mode of Delivery
Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.

Entry Requirements
This program follows global workplace health and safety standards, and is taught by industry experts. Successful students receive an American Institute of Safety Professionals accredited certificate which is recognized by several employers and regulatory bodies. Graduates receive a master certificate, course completion certificate (if applicable), an official transcript, a wallet card, and access to a professional safety network which promotes ongoing learning and career growth.
Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided. The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

This training program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
