The course on Ergonomic Hazards in General Industry offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals presents the OSHA Standard §1910.22 guidelines on the prevention of injuries from poorly designed work spaces, improper material handling, and unsafe walking-working surfaces. It details the employer’s responsibilities regarding the prevention of injuries, and the requirements for keeping the work environment clean, orderly, and sanitary, and for providing safe surfaces that are free from hazards such as leaks, spills, sharp objects, and uneven floors. The course distinction is on the importance of safe practices that eliminate the hazards of walking-working surfaces slipping and collapsing, including the presentation of the requirements for ensuring safe and dry floors, proper drainage, and safe standing platforms in wet process areas. The training covers the safe load bearing capabilities of working surfaces and the collapsing hazards of walking-working surfaces and the hiking of injuries. It covers the ergonomic assessment of repetitive motion, hazardous postures, and manual lifting. It also describes the access and egress safety, including the maintenance and inspection of hazardous conditions, and the safe passage and exit routes that must be regularly corrected by qualified personnel. At the completion of this program, participants will be prepared to spot and address ergonomic and surface hazards, refine workplace design, and build a positive safety culture that prioritizes employee comfort, decreases injuries, and meets OSHA standards in the general industry, Safety in the Workplace, and avoid this general industry injuries.

Mode of Delivery

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

  • Implementation and ComplianceSteps employers must take to implement an ergonomic program, how to comply with OSHA standards for ergonomic hazards, recordkeeping and documentation requirements.

Program Duration

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

Examination

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
