Learning Outcomes
- Understanding the various safety and health hazards present in the general industry, including ergonomic hazards, electrical hazards, fire hazards, and chemical hazards
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and guidelines specific to the general industry, including the Hazard Communication standard (1910.1200), the Control of Hazardous Energy standard (1910.147), and the Bloodborne Pathogens standard (1910.1030)
- Understanding the importance of risk assessment and hazard identification in the workplace and the methods for conducting these assessments
- Knowledge of the safe use, handling, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials in the workplace
- Understanding the principles of ergonomics and how to implement ergonomic interventions to reduce musculoskeletal disorders and injuries in workers
- Knowledge of emergency response and evacuation procedures for the workplace
- Understanding the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the appropriate use of PPE in the workplace

Course Content
Training should emphasize on the following contents:
- Introduction to General Worker Safety: Overview of the importance of safety in the workplace, identification of common hazards and risks in various industries and environments.
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Techniques for identifying and assessing hazards and risks in the workplace, evaluation of the potential consequences of hazards and risks.
- Ergonomics and Physical Safety: Identification and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques, prevention of slips, trips, and falls.
- Fire Safety: Fire prevention and protection measures in the workplace, emergency evacuation procedures and fire drills, fire extinguisher usage and maintenance.
- Electrical Safety: Identification and prevention of electrical hazards in the workplace, safe use and maintenance of electrical equipment, prevention of electrical shocks and fires.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): identification of PPE requirements in the workplace, proper use and maintenance of PPE.
- Safety Procedures and Compliance: Compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies, safety audits and inspections, record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Emergency Preparedness and Response: Identification and management of emergency situations, emergency response procedures and emergency response teams, first aid and emergency medical services.
- Safety Training and Communication: Importance of safety training for workers, communication of safety policies and procedures, employee engagement and feedback.
