Emergency Action Plans

Course Overview

Emergency Action Plans (EAP) course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop, implement, and maintain effective emergency action plans for their workplace. The course covers the following topics:

• Understanding the purpose and importance of Emergency Action Plans
• Identifying potential emergencies and hazards in the workplace
• Developing emergency response procedures and evacuation plans
• Conducting emergency drills and exercises
• Implementing and communicating the Emergency Action Plan to all employees
• Maintaining and updating the Emergency Action Plan on a regular basis

By the end of the course, participants will have a thorough understanding of the key components of an Emergency Action Plan and be equipped with the tools and techniques needed to develop, implement, and maintain a plan that promotes safety and protects employees in case of an emergency.

This course is suitable for occupational health and safety professionals, supervisors, and managers who are responsible for developing and maintaining emergency action plans in their workplace.

Learning Outcomes

• Understanding of emergency response principles: The program covers the principles and practices of emergency response, including the importance of having an effective plan in place to respond to emergencies.
• Knowledge of emergency response regulations and standards: The program covers the latest OSHA regulations and industry best practices in emergency response, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the field.
• Ability to develop and implement emergency action plans: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to develop and implement effective emergency action plans that meet the needs of your organization and its employees.
• Understanding of emergency response team roles and responsibilities: The program covers the roles and responsibilities of emergency response teams, including how to organize and train teams effectively.
• Knowledge of emergency response planning and preparation: The program covers the principles and practices of emergency response planning and preparation, including how to conduct drills and exercises to ensure that the plan is effective and the response team is prepared.

Mode of Delivery

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Course Content

Training should emphasize on the following contents;

• Introduction to Emergency Action Plans (EAPs): Purpose and importance of EAPs, Legal and regulatory requirements for EAPs.
• Identifying Emergency Scenarios and Hazards: Common emergency scenarios in the workplace, identifying potential hazards and assessing risk, evaluating the need for an EAP.
• Developing an EAP: Identifying key personnel and roles, establishing emergency response procedures, developing evacuation plans and procedures, communicating the EAP to employees
• Implementing an EAP: Conducting regular drills and training exercises, reviewing and updating the EAP regularly, and maintaining emergency equipment and supplies.
• Emergency Response and Coordination: Activating the EAP in the event of an emergency, coordinating with first responders and emergency services, communicating with employees, and providing support.
• Post-Emergency Evaluation and Review: Evaluating the effectiveness of the EAP, identifying areas for improvement and making changes, and communicating lessons learned to employees and management.

Entry Requirements

Program Duration

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

Examination

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
