This provision outlines employers’ obligation to shield employees from the dangers of falls and falling objects. This course examines the various walking and working surfaces - floors, lifts, scaffolds, and runways - and assesses the risks to position and remove. The course emphasizes the importance of evaluating and eliminating walking and working surface hazards and the hazards of lift and portable frame scaffolds. Focusing on the hazards of falls, fatal falls from surfaces four feet lower are addressed, and the surfaces must be safe, clean, and dry. The selection of safe and appropriate methods of ladder, platform, and access device is further emphasized as is the assessment of surfaces and working areas and the selection of appropriate fall protection systems to the ground. The course also examines cases where fall protection systems are not yet assembled for activities of inspection or assessment, where they will be exposed to the working surface.

The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.
