Course Overview
The Oil and Gas Safety Management course provides a comprehensive understanding of the safety issues associated with the exploration, production, and transportation of oil and gas. Participants will learn about the hazards and risks associated with oil and gas operations, including fires and explosions, spills, and other environmental incidents. They will also gain an understanding of the various regulations and standards related to oil and gas safety, such as OSHA and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), and the impact of these regulations on the industry. Learning Outcomes
- Understanding of Health and Safety Regulations: Students will gain an understanding of the various health and safety regulations that apply to the oil and gas industry. This includes knowledge of both federal and state regulations.

- Knowledge of Emergency Response Planning: Students will learn about emergency response planning, including the development of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and response teams.
- Understanding of Hazardous Materials Management: Students will gain an understanding of hazardous materials management, including the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in the oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of Incident Investigation: Students will learn about incident investigation, including the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and the identification of root causes and corrective actions.
Mode of Delivery
Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.
Course Content
Training should emphasize on the following contents;
- Introduction: Overview of the oil and gas industry,importance of safety management in the industry.
- Safety Management Systems: Introduction to safety management systems, ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety standard, implementation and maintenance of a safety management system.
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Identification of hazards in the oil and gas industry, evaluation of risks, implementation of control measures.
- Emergency Response and Preparedness: Emergency response plans, firefighting and evacuation procedures, search and rescue techniques, medical response and first aid.
- Safety Culture and Human Factors: Importance of safety culture in the oil and gas industry, human factors in safety (fatigue, communication, etc.), best practices for promoting a positive safety culture.
- Regulations and Compliance: International and national regulations for oil and gas operations, compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Inspection and Auditing: Inspection and auditing techniques for oil and gas operations, best practices for maintaining compliance with safety regulations.
- Case Studies and Best Practices: Analysis of real-world incidents and accidents in the oil and gas industry, discussion of best practices for preventing and managing incidents.
Entry Requirements
Program Duration
This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.
Examination
All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
