Course Overview
The Electrical Safety for Managers course by the American Institute of Safety Professionals (AMIOSP) focuses on delivering to managers, supervisors, and safety professionals the knowledge for identification, evaluation, and control of electrical safety hazards in the workplace as per OSHA regulation (29 CFR 1910 Subpart S). It also delivers on the employer’s responsibility of safeguarding the worker’s safety and exposure to electrical equipment and systems shock, arc flash, electrocution, and fire hazards. Participants learn to identify electrical hazards and LOTO safety procedures to control safe work practices for energized and de-energized systems. Training also covers maintenance, inspection, and grounding procedures of electrical equipment, control risk of energized equipment use by protective personal equipment (PPE). Attendees develop skills to command electrical safety programs for the workplace, complete electrical safety hazard assessments, and guarantee safety and hazard control/reduction compliance as per law. Important course elements include employee training, control safe distance to live circuits, and procedures for electrical emergency first aid, evacuation, and safety. Participants will receive online training through Microsoft Teams and LMS. Courses are offered by accredited broadcasters and backed by expert instruction and official study materials. All assessments are conducted online and successful participants are awarded certificates that are accepted internationally.

Entry Requirements

Successful students receive an American Institute of Safety Professionals accredited certificate which is recognized by several employers and regulatory bodies. Graduates receive a master certificate, course completion certificate (if applicable), an official transcript, a wallet card, and access to a professional safety network which promotes ongoing learning and career growth.
Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided. The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

This training program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
