Course Overview
The Electrical Safety for Employees course offered by the American Institute of Safety Professionals aimed to teach participants how to effectively avoid electrocution hazards. This course also follows OSHA standard §1926.416. Employees working close to energized electrical circuits need to be protected, which the course highlights through prevention methods that include de-energizing, grounding, insulating, and effective shock proofing. This course teaches participants how to recognize and locate concealed electrical circuits, or covered and protected circuits. It encourages asking questions, and the use of electrical testing devices before the task begins. This program points out communication and warning system deficiencies that include danger signs and instructions to the workers about the location of circuits. It discusses the use of insulated gloves and other tools and equipment when shock contact with electrical circuits can be made. It explains the requirement for guarding crisis passageways and open spaces to avoid unauthorized access to energized gear. The requirement for keeping spaces and areas of work clear of cords to avoid tripping and electrocution to contact or hidden circuits cords and cords is praiseworthy. After this training, participants will recognize electrical hazards, apply appropriate safeguards, and comply with OSHA electrical safety standards to protect themselves and others from electrical shocks, burns, and other injuries that can occur in the work environment.
