Course Overview
The Asbestos Safety course by the American Institute of Safety Professionals provides the training to safely manage asbestos-containing materials and comply with the OSHA §1910.1001 regulations. The course teaches important concepts such as asbestos fibers, presumed asbestos-containing materials (PACM), surface ACM, thermal system ACM, regulated areas, and HEPA filtration. Instructors explain the role of industrial hygienists and certified industrial hygienists (CIH) and how they identify, assess, and control occupational asbestos hazards. The training analyzes the Risk of occupational asbestos and the method of control and employee exposure monitoring to asbestos by initial and periodic sampling as well as employee notifications. Program Duration
The program is designed to offer flexible online learning with a minimum instructional contact time of 8 hours. Most learners successfully complete the course within one month, allowing them to progress at their own pace while balancing professional commitments.
Examination
Candidates can take this exam through an assigned portal from the American Institute of Safety Professionals. A passing score is 70% or higher, and exam results are provided right after by email to the address provided. The exam is open-book, allowing candidates to validate their answers. Any candidates who do not pass have 1 month after their exam to go through the training materials and can take the exam 3 additional times.

This training program is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a work site. Training should emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
