This course covers:
  • The importance of proper use, maintenance, and inspection of stairways and ladders in the workplace
  • The types of stairways and ladders commonly used in the workplace, including fixed stairways, portable stairways, and extension ladders
  • The hazards associated with the use of stairways and ladders, including falls, slips, trips, and structural failures
  • The principles of risk assessment and the procedures for evaluating stairways and ladders to identify hazards
  • The strategies for controlling stairway and ladder hazards, including the use of proper equipment, the proper training of employees, and the implementation of safe work practices
  • The requirements of OSHA's regulations related to stairways and ladders in the workplace, including 29 CFR 1910.24 and 1910.25

This Stairways and Ladders Safety course is ideal for supervisors, managers, safety professionals, and all employees who may be at risk of exposure to stairway and ladder hazards in the workplace. All individuals who are committed to promoting safety in the workplace should take this training.

  • Understanding of stairways and ladders hazards: The program covers the concept of stairways and ladders hazards and the importance of managing these hazards in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of stairways and ladders hazard exposure control: The program covers the latest best practices in stairways and ladders hazard exposure control, including how to design and implement effective exposure control plans to minimize the risk of exposure to these hazards.
  • Ability to identify and assess stairways and ladders hazard risks: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to identify and assess potential stairways and ladders hazard risks in the workplace, including exposure to fall hazards, slip and trip hazards, and improper use of ladders.

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Training should emphasize on the following contents;

  • Introduction to stairways and ladders safety, including the types of stairways and ladders commonly used in the workplace and their intended uses.
  • Understanding the OSHA standard for stairways and ladders, 29 CFR 1910.24 and 1910.25
  • Identifying the hazards associated with stairways and ladders, including falls, slips, and trips.
  • Proper selection, inspection, and maintenance of stairways and ladders to ensure they are in good condition and safe to use.
  • Understanding the proper use and limitations of stairways and ladders, including the maximum load capacity, the proper angle of incline, and the proper clearance requirements.
  • The importance of proper foot and hand placement when ascending or descending stairways and ladders.
  • Understanding the proper use of personal fall arrest systems and ladder safety devices.
  • The importance of regular training and education on stairways and ladders safety.
  • The importance of workplace assessments to identify and control stairways and ladders hazards.
  • Final assessment and certification.

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
