This course is designed to educate workers, supervisors, and safety personnel on the four major hazards that cause the majority of construction fatalities as identified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The objective of the course is to reduce the risk of injury and accidents in the workplace through increased knowledge of the OSHA Focus Four hazards.

The course covers the following topics:

  • OSHA Focus Four Hazards (falls, electrocution, caught-in/between, and struck-by)
  • Hazard identification and assessment
  • Protective measures and control techniques
  • Regulations and industry standards (OSHA, ANSI, etc.)
  • Throughout the course, participants will engage in interactive activities and discussions to reinforce their understanding of the material. They will also complete quizzes and assessments to measure their knowledge and proficiency in the OSHA Focus Four hazards.
  • Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion that is recognized by the industry and can be added to their professional portfolio.

This course is essential for all workers and supervisors who are involved in construction activities, as well as for safety professionals who are seeking to improve the safety culture in their organization.   • Understanding of the OSHA Focus Four Hazards: The program covers the concept of the OSHA Focus Four Hazards, including fall hazards, caught-in or -between hazards, struck-by hazards, and electrocution hazards.
  • Knowledge of exposure control for the OSHA Focus Four Hazards: The program covers the latest best practices in exposure control for the OSHA Focus Four Hazards, including how to design and implement effective exposure control plans to minimize the risk of exposure to these hazards.
  • Ability to identify and assess OSHA Focus Four hazard risks: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to identify and assess potential OSHA Focus Four hazard risks, including exposure to falling from heights, being caught in or between objects, being struck by falling objects, and exposure to electrical hazards.
  • Understanding of the role of exposure control in injury prevention: The program covers the importance of exposure control in injury prevention, including how to implement effective exposure control plans to prevent exposure to the OSHA Focus Four Hazards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations for the Focus Four Hazards: The program covers the regulations and standards related to the OSHA Focus Four Hazards, including OSHA requirements for exposure control and injury prevention for these hazards in the workplace.

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Training should emphasize on the following contents;

  • Introduction: Overview of OSHA's Focus Four Hazards: falls, electrocutions, struck-by, and caught-in/between hazards, OSHA regulations and standards relevant to the Focus Four Hazards, importance of recognizing and preventing the Focus Four Hazards in the workplace.
  • Fall Hazards: Identifying common fall hazards in the workplace, including those related to ladders, scaffolding, and elevations, proper use and maintenance of fall protection equipment, training on fall hazards and fall protection procedures.
  • Electrical Hazards: Recognizing electrical hazards and understanding electrical safety rules, identifying and evaluating electrical hazards in the workplace, proper use and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Struck-by Hazards: Identifying struck-by hazards, including those related to vehicles and mobile equipment, proper traffic control procedures and training on struck-by hazards, safety procedures for working near vehicles and mobile equipment.
  • Caught-in/Between Hazards: Identifying caught-in/between hazards, including those related to machine entanglement and trench collapse, proper lockout/tagout procedures and machine guard installation, training on caught-in/between hazards and safe work practices.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: Identifying and planning for potential emergency situations related to the Focus Four Hazards, developing and implementing emergency response plans, training workers on emergency procedures.
  • Case Studies and Group Discussions: Analysis of real-world incidents related to the Focus Four Hazards, group discussions and problem-solving activities to apply course concepts to real-life scenarios.

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
