The Hearing Conservation Program course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the causes and effects of noise-induced hearing loss and the methods for protecting workers from this type of injury. The course covers the requirements of OSHA's Hearing Conservation Standard and the steps employers must take to develop and implement a Hearing Conservation Program.

Objectives:

  • To educate participants on the causes and effects of noise-induced hearing loss
  • To provide an understanding of OSHA's Hearing Conservation Standard
  • To teach participants the steps involved in developing and implementing a Hearing Conservation Program
  • To discuss the importance of regular hearing tests and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Understanding of hearing conservation principles: The program covers the principles and practices of hearing conservation in the workplace, including the importance of protecting workers from hearing loss and other hearing-related hazards.
  • Knowledge of hearing conservation regulations and standards: The program covers the latest OSHA regulations and industry best practices in hearing conservation, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the field.
  • Ability to identify and assess hearing hazards: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to identify potential hearing hazards in the workplace and assess their level of risk.
  • Understanding of hearing hazard control measures and procedures: The program covers various control measures and procedures for reducing or eliminating hearing hazards, including how to develop and implement effective hearing conservation programs.
  • Knowledge of hearing conservation training and education: The program covers the importance of training and educating employees on hearing conservation, including how to develop and deliver effective hearing conservation training programs.

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Training should emphasize on the following contents;

  • Introduction to Hearing Conservation: Overview of hearing conservation in construction and industry, importance of protecting worker's hearing from noise exposure, understanding the risks and consequences of noise-induced hearing loss
  • OSHA Standards and Regulations: Identifying the most relevant OSHA standards and regulations related to hearing conservation, understanding the requirements and responsibilities set by OSHA for employers and employees, assessing the risk of OSHA violations and penalties
  • Noise Measurement and Evaluation: Understanding how to measure noise levels in the workplace, understanding the criteria for determining if a hearing conservation program is necessary, understanding the importance of accurate and timely noise level measurement and evaluation
  • Hearing Protection Devices: Understanding the types of hearing protection devices (HPDs) available, understanding the proper selection, use, and maintenance of HPDs, understanding the limitations and capabilities of HPDs
  • Training and Education: Providing training for employees and contractors on OSHA standards and regulations, promoting hearing conservation culture and awareness, encouraging active participation in hearing conservation
  • Hearing Conservation Programs: Developing a hearing conservation program, implementing a hearing conservation program, monitoring and evaluating a hearing conservation program
  • Special Topics in Hearing Conservation: Understanding specific OSHA standards for particular industries (e.g. construction, manufacturing), understanding specific OSHA standards for specific hazards (e.g. fall protection, hazardous materials), understanding the long-term consequences of noise-induced hearing loss

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
