Course Overview
The Hazards Identification and Risk Management course offered by American Institute of Safety Professionals greatly prepares students to meet OSHA Standard §1910.1200. It teaches students how to recognize, assess, and address risk and communicate the presence of workplace hazardous chemicals. This course teaches how to draft and continuously maintain a written hazard communication program, including a complete list of all hazardous chemicals, labeling dangerous containers, and creation and dissemination of safety data sheets, and safety training. It also teaches the regulatory responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, distributors, and employers to ensure Hazard information is continuously and clearly communicated to employees that are exposed during routine use and foreseeable emergencies. Special emphasis is placed workplace and lab scenarios where employees handle sealed containers of chemicals that are hazardous. It also trains to maintain labeling, safety data sheets and teach employees spill response and emergency action procedures. It also explains GHS and the use of GHS to classify and label hazardous chemicals. It also explains the addition and regulation of certain chemicals and pesticides. In this course, we use practical examples, case studies, and compliance guidelines to help learners understand and meet the expectations of assessing workplace risks, communicating hazards, and being compliant with the regulations.
