Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond to emergency medical situations, including cardiac arrest and other life-threatening conditions. The course teaches participants how to recognize, assess, and manage breathing and cardiac emergencies, as well as other medical conditions such as bleeding, burns, fractures, and poisoning.

The course covers the following topics:

  • The signs and symptoms of heart attack and stroke
  • How to perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • How to recognize and respond to choking and airway obstruction
  • How to control bleeding and manage shock
  • How to assess and treat burns and fractures
  • How to respond to environmental emergencies such as heat and cold exposure
  • The course typically involves a combination of classroom-based instruction, hands-on training, and skill assessment. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills using manikins and other simulation equipment. The course is taught by certified instructors who are experienced in emergency medical care.

Upon completion of the BLS and First Aid course, participants will receive a certification card that is valid for two years. The certification demonstrates that the individual has the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to emergency medical situations and provide care until advanced medical help arrives.

  • Understanding of basic life support and first aid techniques: The program covers the fundamentals of basic life support and first aid, including how to respond to common medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, choking, and bleeding.
  • Knowledge of basic life support techniques: The program covers basic life support techniques, including how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, as well as how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Ability to perform first aid: Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to perform basic first aid, including how to control bleeding, manage fractures, and provide care for burns, cuts, and other common injuries.
  • Understanding of the role of basic life support and first aid in injury prevention: The program covers the importance of basic life support and first aid in injury prevention, including how to provide immediate care to help prevent the worsening of an injury or illness.
  • Knowledge of basic life support and first aid regulations: The program covers the regulations and standards related to basic life support and first aid, including OSHA requirements for first aid and CPR in the workplace.

Training sessions will be conducted through Microsoft Team Meetings in an online format, or through LMS or face-to-face delivery. Invitations for the meeting will be distributed one day before the commencement of the training program. Training is either delivered by an accredited training provider or an affiliate training center.

Training should emphasize on the following contents;

  • Introduction: Overview of basic life support and first aid and their importance in emergency situation, basic anatomy and physiology principles, identifying emergency situations and when to call for professional medical help.
  • Vital Signs and Assessment: Measuring and interpreting vital signs such as pulse, breathing, and blood pressure, assessing the consciousness level and responsiveness of patients, identifying and responding to signs of shock, heart attack, stroke, and other emergencies
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Basic CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants, use of automated external defibrillator (AED), Rrcognizing the signs of cardiac arrest and initiating CPR, techniques of rescue breathing and airway management
  • Wounds and Bleedin:Types of wounds and appropriate first aid treatmentstechniques for controlling bleeding and preventing shock
  • Burns: Types of burns and appropriate first aid treatments, understanding the depth of burns, identifying and responding to electrical and chemical burns
  • Fractures, Sprains, and Strains: Recognizing and responding to broken bones, sprains, and strains, techniques for immobilizing and splinting fractures, identifying and responding to dislocations
  • Environmental Emergencies: Recognizing and responding to heat-related illnesses and hypothermia, understanding the symptoms and treatment of frostbite and hypothermia, identifying and responding to insect and animal bites and stings
  • Medical Emergencies: Understanding and responding to common medical emergencies such as seizures, diabetes, and allergic reactions, recognizing

This course is designed to help you reach your goals at your own pace and on your schedule. Instructional contact time must be a minimum of 8 hours. Most students intend to complete their studies via online learning within 1 month.

All students must achieve a minimum 70% score to successfully pass the examination which shall be taken online through AISP assigned portal. After successful completion of the examination, students will get their results immediately on their registered emails. This is an open-book exam and students are permitted to use a separate browser window to review course content while taking the exam. If you do not pass the examination you may retake the examination. Students are allowed to take an exam three times within one month. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.
